My Kitchen "Mud Room" Revealed (and a Free Printable!)

Howdy peeps!

I promised y'all a better glimpse of this area of my kitchen far too long ago...so today I am finally delivering and letting you in on how we are organize ourselves.  Say hello to my "mud room!"

Love love love my new console table from World Market!

This is an area I have been calling "no man's land" since we moved in, because it is a large-ish area with no apparent purpose.  It won't accommodate a table and chairs, and is basically a large pass-through.  So, I set us up with a long console table (this one is from World Market and I absolutely love it), an inspirational gallery wall, and some much-needed organization.

Love my baskets!  They are perfect for this job, with big handles and plastic liners inside to minimize dirt getting everywhere.  I made the tags using raw wood circles sprayed with the darkest paint I had on hand, and chipboard letters which I also spray painted with champagne metallic paint:

And inside, we keep shoes, hats, or whatever we need to stash in a jiffy:

My handbag lives here, right next to a little tray for keys, sunglasses, change, and whatever.

I can't tell you how life-changing it is to have a designated "home" for your bag.  Try it.  It will change things.
For the gallery, I did black, white and green, painting some of the the frames to match.  The two small ones hold pictures of my boys shot by Lindsey Turner at our recent photo shoot.  Aren't they adorable?

It truly is a frugal gallery, as I made most of it myself.  I made the vinyl wall art using my Silhouette, and I created the chicken-wire frame to hold "thank you's" and other sundry things.

The subway art is all the places my Hubs and I have lived together (for how I did it, click here).  The Bible Verse art I made...and, because I love you, I am offering it as a free printable, in either green or chalkboard background (just click on the picture to download the PDF):

Hope you enjoy!

    1. Hey Deb! It has been a while now, but I think I made the document in picnik (these days you need to use picmonkey.com), then I had it printed in the large size (engineering print) at Staples. Check out this girl's tutorial on how to build the frame, etc: http://www.iammommahearmeroar.net/2011/07/diy-subway-art-for-under-7.html
