New Baby Monograms and a Coupon Code!

Hey y'all! {Scroll to the bottom for your coupon code!}

Just wanted to check in with you today and show off the most recent monograms rolling out of my Etsy shop.  I did two last week: one for a boy and one for a girl. Ladies First!

Custom Baby Girl Monogram in Gray on Yellow Chevron
And the boy's:

Custom Baby Boy Monogram in White on Navy Dot

That one is very similar to another I gave as a gift recently...I love this combination for a little boy!

If you have a new baby in your life (or older children who would love to have this special touch in their room), please hop on over to my Etsy shop!  It's called That Mommy Designs.  Once there you can peruse different options in paper backgrounds and fonts, or you can click "Request Custom Order" and give me as much direction as you would like.

Check out these cute new papers I have in stock too!

To celebrate the gorgeous weather I am currently running a coupon: use the code SPRING20 to save 20% off any custom monogram, yay!  Hope to see you there!

Sweet Crafted Mantel for Valentine's Day

This post may contain affiliate links, but all opinions are 100% mine.  For more information, please see my Disclosures page.

Sweet Decor Pink & Gold

Well, a new day has dawned in my house.  A sweet pink and gold mantel for Valentine's Day.  Never thought the day would come.  As a boy mom, pink is definitely the least loved color in my house (I'm not even a huge fan!), but this year I was in the mood.

Pink and Gold

Valentine's Day

I whipped up the pink and gold glitter artwork using Double Sided Adhesive and my Silhouette.  The candle holder was a DIY project for Christmas, knocking off a look from Restoration Hardware.

Valentine's Day

I also used my Silhouette to cut gold paper into circles and make these sweet, simple little garlands.  I love them up there along with my chalkboard pennant banner.

Chalkboard Pennant

The pink flowers I had on hand, just arranged them in a little pitcher.

Valentine's Day

The arrow is just spray-painted chipboard.  I've decided I absolutely love Rustoleum's gold spray paint.
It is the best gold color in spray paints out there.  The Hubs asked, "why is there a directional arrow on the mantel?"  Men.  Wondering how it's propped up?

Uh, let's try that again:

The verdict from the boys?  Biggest said, "I love it!" and Little Boo called it "awesome."  Huh. I guess pink isn't so bad after all!

Kitchen Reno Plans

Hello My Dears!

When 2015 got under way I made a list of my goals for the year and it had about a zillion items on it.  At least 30, which felt like a zillion.  For a couple of weeks I kept thinking "okay what can I do from the list?" until the list itself became the priority and it started making me nuts.  So I made a new list, and it only had five items on it.  I instantly felt so much better!

One of those five goals for 2015 is to finish our kitchen renovation.  When we moved in almost two years ago, we felt blessed that the previous owners had updated the kitchen.  They put in granite counters, new stainless appliance, and painted the cabinets white.  I have always dreamed of a white kitchen (See, e.g., "My Future White Kitchen" board on Pinterest).  However, this reno was only about 80% finished in my book, and now I'm ready to tackle the rest.

The view from the Breakfast Nook

The "Mud Room," looking more or less as it did the last time you saw it, minus a "J" which our puppy removed from a tag.
So here are the things that need doing:

Paint the trim white (Benjamin Moore White Dove)
It is going to look so much better with white trim!  I am leaving the wood trim up in my family room, but now the kitchen will match the trim in the dining room, so yay!

Paint the walls (Sherwin Williams Sedate Gray)
This is a great light gray that is already making me happy in my upstairs hallway.  Love it!

Install new light fixtures
The cheap track lighting above the island has to go.  I am thinking something like this (I'd do three):

Install a Backsplash?
What do you think...do I need one?

Add personality to the walls
On this last point I have been really stuck.  I think I am doing a huge chalkboard on that blank wall in the dining nook, but what to do on this weird wall next to all the doors to other rooms?

Luckily I recently discovered the Minted Art Marketplace, and y'all. I was floored by the incredible variety of options for both artwork and framing.  I have used Minted for cards before and have always been impressed with their quality, but the art at Minted was a new one for me and now I can't stop browsing!  Here are a few options--you have to tell me, which one would you choose?

I'm kind of all over the place in terms of style--I admit to being a little overwhelmed by all the options!  I've even thought about going with family photos and doing a customizable print like this:

Or a foil print, oh the foil prints!  So pretty!  I think they have every state too, and many cities as well.

So, what's your vote?  There are so many more over at Minted (I haven't even scratched the surface) so if you hop over there and see one I should consider, let me know that too!  I noticed they have 15% off everything through today, so that's fun!

My Kitchen "Mud Room" Revealed (and a Free Printable!)

Howdy peeps!

I promised y'all a better glimpse of this area of my kitchen far too long ago...so today I am finally delivering and letting you in on how we are organize ourselves.  Say hello to my "mud room!"

Love love love my new console table from World Market!

This is an area I have been calling "no man's land" since we moved in, because it is a large-ish area with no apparent purpose.  It won't accommodate a table and chairs, and is basically a large pass-through.  So, I set us up with a long console table (this one is from World Market and I absolutely love it), an inspirational gallery wall, and some much-needed organization.

Love my baskets!  They are perfect for this job, with big handles and plastic liners inside to minimize dirt getting everywhere.  I made the tags using raw wood circles sprayed with the darkest paint I had on hand, and chipboard letters which I also spray painted with champagne metallic paint:

And inside, we keep shoes, hats, or whatever we need to stash in a jiffy:

My handbag lives here, right next to a little tray for keys, sunglasses, change, and whatever.

I can't tell you how life-changing it is to have a designated "home" for your bag.  Try it.  It will change things.
For the gallery, I did black, white and green, painting some of the the frames to match.  The two small ones hold pictures of my boys shot by Lindsey Turner at our recent photo shoot.  Aren't they adorable?

It truly is a frugal gallery, as I made most of it myself.  I made the vinyl wall art using my Silhouette, and I created the chicken-wire frame to hold "thank you's" and other sundry things.

The subway art is all the places my Hubs and I have lived together (for how I did it, click here).  The Bible Verse art I made...and, because I love you, I am offering it as a free printable, in either green or chalkboard background (just click on the picture to download the PDF):

Hope you enjoy!
