Happy Bloggy Birthday to Moi!

Wow, I can't believe That Mommy Blog is one year old today!  It has been a really fun year, too.  I've loved sharing my decorating obsession, taking you along for my various adventures far from home, and recounting my funny kid stories with you...among other things.

Thanks for coming along for the craziness!  And here's to another great year!

My Musical Window and a Giveaway!

There was a time, not so long ago, when I was going to turn my Dining Room into a Music Room. Then I put my house on the market and it promptly turned back into a Dining Room.  Boo!  The Music Room will have to wait...but some of the decor has found a home elsewhere, including this old window which is now strutting its stuff on the mantel.

I bought this window for ten bucks at an antique show several months ago.  Cleaning the thing was the hardest part!  Once I got all the dirt and wasp's nests and dust off, I decorated it with sheet music for six songs that are meaningful to my family.  I found the music online and printed it onto heavy paper.  Sheet music for specific songs can be tricky to find, but one great resource I stumbled upon is here.  I then layered the music on top of blue cardstock, and simply taped the pages into the window.  So easy.

I also used our Recessional song from our wedding (Joy to the World), our first dance (All the Way by Frank Sinatra), and a couple of songs that remind me of dating my Hubs back in the day.  Good stuff.

And More Big News!

Ladies, I am blue.  I don't have any time to blog!  I don't post, and I don't read blogs, and it makes me down in the dumps.  But, I have a legitimate excuse.  In addition to me starting a business, we are also moving!  My husband accepted a job in another city.  Our house went on the market this week.  We are changing towns, homes, schools, gyms, doctors...everything!

And man, is it a lot of work to even contemplate moving with two little kids!  It was hard to get our house ready to be listed...and ready for pictures...and it is hard to keep it that way.  I have learned, however, that it is faster and easier to clean the joint up now that half my stuff is in boxes in the garage!  The real test will be what I bring back out in our new home.

Until then, I am working on selling our house.  That, and praying for a quick sale!

We're asking $244,500...2,400 square feet, four bedrooms, golf course lot with woods to one side.  So, do I have any takers?  So far the hordes of buyers haven't been beating down the door, so say a prayer for us!

Big News, Peeps

Remember how, something like four weeks ago, I very rudely hinted at "big things" going on around here, and then I dropped off the face of the planet and you were all like, "Oh, that's what she was up to!  Dropping off the face of the planet!"

Well, I came back and now I can share my big news!  So, without further ado...I present my latest venture:

Yep, I am joining my Mother-in-Law in the jewelry business!  I can still stay at home with my boys while I also enjoy the benefits of working part-time and contributing to the family finances.  It's a win-win, with the added bonus of getting to work with diamonds and fine jewelry.  So, if you're in the market for any type of fine jewelry and would like some guidance, I hope you'll think of me!
